PMAY - Making Affordable Housing a Possibility in India

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna is a great initiative by the Government of India which aims at providing affordable homes to the poor people who have been living in the urban area. This target has to be achieved by 31 March 2022 and is aimed to benefit at least 20 million families. This also becomes a great employment opportunity for labors and masons and will also help to alleviate bondage labor.

Other benefits of this scheme include:

Credit-linked Subsidy Scheme popularly abbreviated as CLSS is aimed to benefit the middle-income group and therefore the flats built for that category of people are distinguished with MIG I and MIG II classes. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna has been extended to March 2019 and includes all those individuals whose income lies in between Rs. 6,00,000 and Rs. 12,00,000. Additionally, all those individuals whose income range lies in between 12,00,000 and Rs. 18,00,000 are eligible for MIG II flats. In a nutshell, every individual whose income lies in between 6,00,000 and 18,00,000 is eligible to avail the benefit of this scheme.

The PM Awas Yojna mission will be implemented during 2015- 2022 providing assistance to Urban Local Bodies and other implementing agencies. It comprises three phases PMAY Phase1 – Run from April 2015 to March 2017 covering 100 cities, PMAY Phase 2- operate from April 2017 to March 2019, covers additional 200 cities & PMAY Phase 3 run from April 2019 to March 2022 to cover the remaining cities.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Delhi, affordable housing will be provided for all income groups. The scheme has two major components Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) & Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) to ensure housing with all necessary facilities making living comfortably within budget.
